Charlie Rolling Over

Charlie started rolling over on Wednesday, but hadn't completely gotten up on his hands until Thursday. He has really gotten the hang of it, which is great, but somehow he forgot how to roll back over. He quickly gets frustrated and either lays spread eagle for a while until he regains strength, or I turn him back over. Nevertheless, it makes me realize my little "Charlie Man" is growing up way too fast! I wish I could just bottle him up and keep him little forever! It makes me look at Samuel and get excited for the days to come, but also wish that both of them were still this little and innocent!

The HOT DONUT SIGN!

Both boys woke up early today and I decided while I was feeding Charlie that we should go for an adventure. Ryan and I changed out of our PJs, threw the kiddos in the car and headed to the sweetest place on earth! We have never taken Samuel inside the Krispy Kreme before so this was his first time watching them making the donuts. He was so excited, and that's quite the understatement. He wanted to go look at the donuts after each bite, it was so cute! Charlie even got into it! Samuel got to pick 2 donuts and of course wanted chocolate milk-how much sugar can you pump into a 2 year old? Well we found out, and it's quite a bit! Nevertheless this was a fun experience on this early Sunday morning!

One of the most glorious sights ever to be seen!
Oh the anticipation
I only wish I could see his face, but can't you just "read" the excitement by those shoulders?
Smelling the sweetness of those donuts
Taking our first bites!
Isn't your mouth just watering, mine is!!!
Gotta have my coffee! (notice Ryan and I both wearing the hats, Samuel is not a hat guy and refused our pleas to wear the hat, even for just one picture!)
Charlie obliged me though, isn't he so cute! One day little guy, you will also know the amazingness of a hot Krispy Kreme donut!
Watching the donuts get flipped in the frying oil.
Charlie was "talking" to Samuel. THis is what Samuel always does...he smiles so big and it makes Charlie just crack up! I love it and can't wait for these boys to be great buddies!
Having fun talking about the icing going onto the donuts!

Play Date

Our friends Caroline and June came over yesterday for a play date. We played outside almost the whole time because the weather has been so nice! There was much sliding, swinging, bike riding and drawing with chalk. We even ate dinner out on the porch. After dinner we went to the front steps for our "dessert", frozen gogurt! We had a great time!

The girls saw Charlie playing in here and when he went to sleep they decided they wanted a go at it. I told them that when they were really little they used to play in there too.

BeBe and Pops come for a visit

BeBe and Pops stopped here for a night on their way to Washington DC to see some of their dear friends. We all had a great time and even John and his friend Melissa came over for a fun dinner/evening. We cooked a delicious brisket and had BBQ and some amazing margaritas. Mom made Grandmommie's chocolate cake (only the best) and we ate our first meal of the year out on the porch. Charlie enjoyed being passed around, Samuel was the life of the party and we even got to continue a fun Cowan family tradition!

Charlie loves to suck on his hand/thumb when his paci isn't available!
It was a beautiful night and we had a great time just hanging out!
Charlie loves his Pops
BeBe is so awesome! She loves her little boys!

Cowan family tradition to burn the Christmas tree. We saved the wreath for when mom & dad were here. It was almost as fun as the tree!

Samuel wanted to throw the ball through the hole. He got pretty close!
Saying cheese for the camera with his delicious cake covered mouth!

First Day of Spring

Tuesday was the official first day of Spring. Ritas was giving away free Italian Ice, and who can say no to free!?? Certainly not us! We went to the park with our friends to play and eat lunch. Then we headed over for our free cups of delicious italian ice! All the kids had such a great time! Welcome spring, go away pollen, and bring on beach season!!!

Handsome Little Fellas

The boys have some precious matching outfits my mom got them earlier this year. They were so cute at church today and we got to grab a few pictures of them this afternoon after nap time! Of course, as anyone with little kids knows, there were more "funny" out take type pictures than perfect ones, but those are great too!

St. Patricks Day Traditions

When we were younger my mom always did some fun things on holidays. I distinctly remember coming home from school and the leprechauns had come and made our milk and cookies green. I was so amazed and really thought that there were leprechauns that came to our house! This morning we had a green breakfast. Samuel kept saying "we having Sam I am breakfast", that's one of our favorite books these days (Green eggs and ham!). Anyway, we had a great time talking and laughing at the table. Ryan and I had to kind of psych ourselves out of the fact that our eggs were green, kinda weird!!! Many more fun holiday treats to come in my years!

Green milk
Excited about our special breakfast!

First taste of green eggs!
Charlie thinks his big brother is so funny!
Cheesing it up for the camera
the green milk was a hit!
daddy even got into it!

Charlie's First Trip to the Beach

The weather has been amazing this month and we have been dying to spend an afternoon on the beach! Today was the day! We waited for the end of naptime (Samuel didn't take a nap, which will be important in just a moment) and then packed the kids in the car. We got there, parked the car, got out and found Samuel asleep in his carseat. Charlie started fussing that he wanted to eat and then the raindrops came. We totally thought this was a bust. I decided to feed Charlie and see if we could wait it out. Success, the rain stopped, Charlie has a full belly, and Samuel was starting to wake up.

Samuel and Ryan loved playing in the sand, building a castle, running up to the water, and making footprints. Charlie dipped our toes in, realized it was WAY TOO COLD for even a toe dip and chilled in the beach chair for the remainder of the trip. I would say that today was the beginning to an amazing beach season! So excited for the afternoons to come!

RUNNING as fast as they can to the water. Samuel kept squealing "Mommy, look the ocean!"
Pure joy...not sure which is happier!
Charlie was thrilled to be there!
First dip in the ocean! I hope this little boy grows up to love the water as much as his daddy, brother and I do!

Building a castle
Watching the seagulls fly by
Charlie kept cooing and laughing at the water. Tried to get it on camera, this is the best I could get!

Jumping into daddy's footprints

Learning the amazing joy of sunbathing
I think he is pretty happy!
